Full Moon Power - A Double Dose of Capricorn - 21 July, 2024
Are you still standing? This past month has been a whirlwind of twists and turns.
Unusually, we have had two Capricorn Full Moons in a row - the first on June 21st, at the beginning of the sign and the second on July 21st, at the end. This initiated a story or a situation that has been unfolding over the past four weeks. Adding to the intensity, revolutionary Uranus made an exact alignment with trigger-happy Mars between July 14th and 16th, sparking unexpected disruptions and chaos.
Things reached a monumental climax last Sunday. This second Capricorn Full Moon, falling at the final degrees of the sign, was conjunct Pluto, the planet of death and rebirth. It’s been a time of intense feelings, crisis and completion. This energy is pushing us to let go of the old and embrace the new. Change is underway, and though it may feel exhausting, this is not a time to give up, it’s a time to let go.
We will feel the reverberations of this purging and transformative energy for several weeks to come.
FULL MOON IN AQUARIUS - 27.15 DEGREES
August 19th, 2024, 19:26 BST / 14:26 EST / 11:26 PST
Pluto Power: Last Sunday’s Capricorn Full Moon fell at the pivotal 29-degree point that Pluto has been moving back and forth over since 2022. This has been amplifying the themes that Pluto in Capricorn has been addressing over the past 16 years – dismantling outdated patriarchal systems, cleansing toxic institutions, and exposing abuses of power.
It has been fascinating to observe how this astrological symbolism has been playing out on the world stage.
Donald Trump: The Mars-Uranus conjunction made a challenging aspect to Trump’s natal Mars (our ability to survive) and Ascendant (our physical body), resulting in an unpredictable and shocking attack.
Joe Biden: Soon after this same aspect opposed Biden’s Scorpio Sun, he was diagnosed with COVID. Then, two hours after the Full Moon was exact, he announced he was withdrawing from the presidential race.
Kamala Harris: As the Full Moon activated Harris’ natal Full Moon in Aries, the sign of leadership, she was thrust into the spotlight. Whether she’s the right person for the job remains to be seen, but a Black-South Asian, female US president certainly represents the new Aquarian paradigm we’re heading toward.
US Elections and Beyond: Pluto’s final pass through the end degree of Capricorn, coincides with the US elections this autumn. This suggests a final push from the old guard. However, by mid-November, Pluto will return to Aquarius and stay there for nearly 20 years. Even if Trump wins, his time in office could be short-lived.
The theme of collapsing institutions and abuses of power continued across the pond. The UK government has announced emergency measures to deal with prison overcrowding and shocking revelations of abusive behaviour by some of the professional dancers on the much-loved television show, Strictly Come Dancing, have come to light.
The astrology strongly suggests that more political earthquakes and revelations are yet to come.
Personal Reflections: But what is happening on a personal level? How is all of this playing out in your life?
We are in the tricky position of being caught between two worlds and two paradigms; the old is not yet completely over, and the new has not yet fully taken form.
This transition is leaving many of us feeling exhausted and disoriented. If you have been overwhelmed by anxiety about the future or a feeling that time (and quite possibly money) is running out, take a moment to pause. We need to reset, regroup and recognise that we are undergoing a profound personal and collective detox; a detox which has been massively triggered by Pluto and these recent Full Moons.
A Time of Empowerment: We are in the process of shedding aeons of ancestral and societal conditioning. Although this process may feel uncomfortable, it is creating space for something far more solid and authentic to come in.
The Full Moon in Capricorn is urging us to find our internal anchor and become our own guide. It is time to move away from dependence on external authority and trust that our inner wisdom can help navigate us through these transformative times.
Cosmic Advice: Over the next 10 days, as we move through the waning phase of this powerful Moon cycle, take time to rest, reflect, and recharge. Consider having an Epsom salt bath, meditating, or engaging in any practice that helps you release what no longer serves you.
Supportive aspects from Uranus (liberation and upgrades) and Neptune (divine energy and flow), can help us willingly take part in a process of surrender as we break free from old entrenched patterns and behaviour. By intentionally letting go, we can align more deeply with our true purpose and what we are here to do.
New Moon Magic: A blast of heart-opening solar energy from the New Moon in Leo, on August 4th, can help reconnect us to our core essence and passion. This potent reboot of life force energy will help us refine our unique creative offering which, when we are ready, we can then share with the world.
I leave you with the words of the late, great John Lennon:
“Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one”.
